Bah Humbug

There are, like, 5 days until Christmas. I am SO not in the spirit yet. Anyone have any helpful suggestions? I already wrapped all the presents, so that’s out. Besides, that usually makes me cranky, especially when the dog steps on the already-wrapped ones and rips them and I have to start over. Also, we’ve been listening to Christmas music since, like, October, so that’s out too. Mostly now it just makes me gag a little bit. I guess booze would still work. Anyone have any delightful Christmas booze concoctions?

I don’t know why I’m so Scroogey this year. My life is good. I am happily married, I love my family, I have great friends, I own a house, I have a dog, I like my job… So there really is no excuse.

I’m going to Taco Bell. If fake Mexican food can’t get me in the Christmas spirit, I don’t know what will.

Updates

Work Update

Sonja: Thanks for that list for the Christmas cards. :-) (Bah humbug, I hate Christmas cards.)
Boss (the Boss that isn’t the Boss that wants to send out Christmas cards): Your Welcome. Yes, corporate Christmas cards seem to such a waste. Does anyone really notice?
Sonja: I got one this morning. I threw it in the garbage.
Boss: That’s the spirit! :)
Sonja: Yay! Bah humbug for everyone!

So that’s what I’m up to today. I’m busy beating mail merge into submission and trying not to get too many papercuts on my tongue.

We had our corporate Christmas party yesterday. There was a lot of beer, a lot of joking, and not enough wearing of pants. We all did an anonymous gift exchange which included poems for each present. I’ll post the poem and present I got tomorrow when I have a chance to take a picture of it.

Best Buddy Update

My bestest Buddy, Skye, is having a poo Christmas. She has to have surgery on December 21. Everyone send her good vibes, ok?

Heater Update

The heater was broken, as in fried to little bits. We had to buy a new one. According to Robbie, who is at home with the installers now, it’s “really cool.” It’d better be really damn cool, for what we’re paying for it. Grumblegrumble bahhumbug.

Singin’

Concert tonight and tomorrow night. If you’re in the area and want to come, email me!

Good News, Bad News

Good news: My car heater ISN’T in fact broken. Yet. It still makes heat. And the fan still works. It just makes a much worse noise than it did. But for now, that’s good enough for me.

Bad news: The house heat is definitely broken.

Good news: We at least got it to stop blowing out cold air, which is what it was doing when I got home yesterday. Now it’s not blowing out anything, a definite improvement. Also, we have a gas fireplace.

Bad news: Sydney decided she wanted to sleep on the couch too. Two big people + one big dog + one not-overly-large couch = not much sleep.

Good news: Uh, I’m all out.

Bad news: I got in trouble at work today for a dumb mistake that ended up being a huge pain in the butt to several people. I feel like a bad person and I hate that feeling.

More bad news: I had to deposit cash from my wallet today to make sure my checks won’t bounce before payday. That feeling comes in a close second to the bad-person feeling.

Today is the suck.

Can I Get Some Heat?

I think my car heater and house heater both broke today. What are the odds?

Cute Doggies

Because I am a dork, I think that this is about the cutest thing ever. (Also it could be because I’m high on nasal decongestants and stir-crazy from sitting in the same spot on the couch for 48 hours.)

And because Sydney is my little Best in Show girl, here she is.
