Tarot Reading: Joy’s Brother
If you’ll recall, a while ago, I solicted questions for practice Tarot readings. Because I am busy and lazy and a sort of bad person, I didn’t get around to doing them until… erm… yesterday. I have permission to post one of them here, so enjoy, folkses.
Joy wants to know what her brother’s future will be like.
THE READING
I’m doing a five-card spread.
1. Present Position: The Fool
Despite what you may think, The Fool usually represents a fresh start, not an idiot.
This says to me that your brother has the opportunity for a fresh beginning right now. He is probably feeling excited, and yet afraid of what might happen along the way. On the card, a young man is walking towards the edge of a cliff, but he doesn’t see the drop-off because he’s distracted. It’s potentially dangerous, but he’s happy and confident. A risk must be taken to facilitate change.
2. Present Expectations: King of Cups
The suit of cups is the suit of emotions. The King of Cups symbolizes a man who wants to be emotional but is afraid or cautious about it. There’s a great conflict in your brother between the need to be emotionally involved in his life and the difficulties and fear associated with ACTUALLY being emotionally involved. But you already knew this.
3. What is Unexpected: Knight of Cups
Another emotion card! The Knight of Cups, unlike the King of Cups, is the lover. He is the dreamer, lost in the emotional word of romance and adventures. Heart rules over head, which can make someone either kind and sympathetic, or moody and lost in a fantasy world. Maybe a bit of both. This says to me that your brother is a lot more emotional than you might think he is. It might, alternatively, be a sign that you are becoming more emotional about the situation with your brother, and it’s your choice whether or not you want to embrace the feelings or step back from them and analyze logically. Neither choice is wrong or right, but they are both open to you.
4. Immediate Future: Two of Pentacles
In this card, a boy juggles two coins. If we take this as an analogy, your brother is going to have to juggle his finances in the near future. The number two is usually a positive one in Tarot readings, so this doesn’t mean that he’s going to necessarily be in financial trouble, it just means that he’ll need to work on and change some things. It’s an enthusiastic time. Maybe he’s saving up to buy something important.
5. Long-term Future: The Sun
I am so happy to see this card! It means joy, optimism, and clarity. A little girl rides on a white horse through a beautiful orchard under the bright sunshine. “The dawn will break,” is what this card tells me. Sure, you might be in the middle of the night right now, but soon it will be morning and all those problems that seemed so big and scary and horrible last night aren’t going to seem so bad when the sun is shining. So hang in there, something good is on the way.
Thoughts: I’m so glad all the cards on your brother’s reading were so positive! I see lots of energy and enthusiasm and positive change coming from a situation that seems really tough right now. Hang in there. The sun’s going to come out!
