Official!

Yep, it’s official now, or at least it feels more official. Heehee. My author page is up at The Wild Rose Press. Go ahead, take a gander. I said “gander” but only because I’m giddy. Heeee. Go look!

Just Can’t Hide It

Ok, you ready for my news? I feel like I’ve now built it up enough that I can say something, plus it’s more or less official now, so I can spill…

I sold a story!

I’ll let you have a minute to let that sink in, and also to picture me running around my house screaming like so many American Idol contestants who just made it to Hollywood. I wish I’d had Romeo video tape it.

So, details:

I sold an approximately 5,000-word short story to The Wild Rose Press. It’s called Love In Shadow (and somebody needs to give me a rule about how many words a story has to be before you underline/italicize instead of use quotations because I really don’t freakin’ know). The excerpt is up on my website in the books section. I had so much fun writing it and I’m beyond excited to have sold it! I’m working on the revisions now, but they’ll hopefully be done over the weekend, and as soon as I have a release date and all that, you’ll be the first to know!

So, more details:

I’m going to have it published under Sonja Foust. Yeah, I decided against using my porn star name (Ramona Norwood– how cool is that?) mostly for marketing reasons. I mean, you all already know my name, so why not use it? This one’s going to be in ebook format only. That means you pay $3 to download it in whatever format you want and then either print it or read it on a nifty ebook reader. As I learn more about ebooks myself, I’ll share all the advantages here on my blog. They are the books of the future, people!

Anyway, I’m super-duper excited, and so glad I finally got to spill! Wahooooo!

Jotting

I’m in the process of working a new book idea. As Jenny Crusie says, it’s in the sticky stage. That means I’m coming up with random ideas while driving home and then practically driving my car into the ditch trying to find something to write on so I won’t forget my brilliant thought.

No more, I say. Because today I remembered something I read on Lifehacker a few weeks ago. I remember reading about it because I thought, “bah, I’d never need that.” It’s a service which you can call and leave yourself a voice message which the service will then transcribe and email to you. Yeah, pretty freakin’ cool, right? So now I finally came up with a use for it. Instead of running my car into a ditch looking for paper, I can now just announce, “Jott” into my cell phone’s voice-recognition dialing and leave myself a message about my brilliant plot twists and thematic elements and first kiss scenes.

I am just so cool.

On Various Topics

I guess I either need:

1) more interesting questions;
B) better prizes.

Heehee. But, oh well, we’ll try again next week. Thanks for the shout-out on your blog, Alana!

Some thoughts:

* I don’t care who won the Superbowl. I do care that someone in North Carolina won some build-your-own-commercial contest and, to boot, had the funniest commercial of the Superbowl. In my humble opinion, of course.

* It’s cold. Very cold.

* How is it February already?

* Running has to be bad for your health. Since beginning my couch to 5k program, I’ve suffered shin splints, leg cramps, toe cramps, foot cramps, armpit cramps (seriously), shortness of breath (ok, only while actually running, but still), excessive sweatiness, and my girlparts are not happy. (TMI?) I rest my case. Still, I can’t give up because Skye will ridicule me if I do. And plus then I won’t be able to say, “I once ran (mostly) a 5k.” And plus I won’t be beautiful and thin. Well, ok, really, that probably won’t happen anyway. But a girl can hope.

* That is all. I’m off to go ramble about my writing progress (ahem, lack thereof) at So 5. Come over and say hi.
