Sydney Reviews Love In Shadow

Mom already knew I loved to watch TV, but I don’t think she realized I’m an avid eBook reader too. (I also like print books. They’re tasty.) That’s why she’ll be surprised to find out that I read her short story from The Wild Rose Press, Love In Shadow, which comes out March 23.

I have to say… it sucked. There were no Frisbees, no bacon, not even a good tennis ball chase. Fine, I guess if you like romantic stories and fairies without wings, and castles and horses, you might think it was pretty great. It did have all that stuff. And even I, Madame Silly Dog, got a little foggy-eyed at the end. But come on. No BACON? Mom, I love you, but stick with the belly rubs and treat-giving, ok?

Losing 6 Lbs in One Day = Yuck

I’m not going to talk about my weekend in general, because yuck.

But, some high points:

My darling sister is gettin’ hitched! Everyone join me in a “hooray!” And go oogle her rock(s).

Mom and I watched The Holiday, and it was good, sayeth the both of us. It would have been better with more Jude Law screen time, but hey, Jack Black kept my dad entertained anyway.

Also, are any of you on Twitter? I may be the lamest person in the cyberworld, but I just discovered it this morning. So far it seems… vapid. Anyone want to change my mind? How do you use Twitter? Is it anything more than a big huge time-waster and runner-upper of cell phone text message bills? Are we so self-centered as a society that we actually think anyone will CARE what we are doing at any given second?

Now, watch, next week I’ll be all like, “Twitter, how do I loff thee?”

Spreadin’ the News(letter)

Join my newsletter. It don’t hurt none. Also, if you join my newsletter, you will get the inside scoop on The Making of “Love In Shadow.” It’s a tale of passion, inspiration, and accidents involving zip disks. How can you resist? It’s like the bonus material on the DVD that you have to watch, even though its 12:37 and you have to be at work at 8 in the morning. Do eet. Do eeeeet.

Also, I will be having some kind of hoopla on my newsletter revolving around my release date (March 23!) which will likely involve prizes. Priiiiizes, people. Prizes.

That is all.

Enough of that political crap. Instead, I will make my neighbors to the north green with envy. Behold my daffodils:

An Inconvenient Ruse?

I had to marinate on An Inconvenient Truth for a while. At first, I was pretty sure I liked it. I mean, everyone likes Power Point, right? And, I admit it, I really like Al Gore. I voted for him. And global warming has been kind of a pet thing of mine since I was a wee thing living in tree-huggery Southern California. So the movie got me pretty fired up and rah rah about saving the planet and stuff.

But then I went to the website, hoping to find suggestions for how I, as the average joe consumer, might be able to help save the planet. Know what I found? Here are the ways you can help the planet:

1. Contribute money to Al Gore’s alternative energy co-op.
2. If you don’t contribute money to Al Gore’s alternative energy co-op, you are a Commie earth-hating sunuvawho. Or worse, a Republican.

And I am now disillusioned. Was that entire stirring movie just more political propaganda to get me to give a rich politician my money? Because that sucks. And hurts my heart a little.

What do you think? Is Al Gore just a guy who’s been a politician for so long that he can’t stop being a politician even long enough to make a movie, supposedly about global warming? Am I blowing this whole thing out of proportion? I dunno, it all ads up and I don’t like the answer I’m getting.
