History

I am so proud to have been a part of tonight, and the historic election of Barack Obama. I usually don’t get really political on this blog, but I gotta post and this is all I’m thinking about tonight.

Obama is the first politician I’ve really believed in. I believe in his plans and politics, yes, but even more, I believe that he genuinely wants the best for America and for Americans. I think we, as a country, made the right decision tonight. I am so proud that America can pull out of a destructive spiral and make a decision to right ourselves, in peace and without violence.
I am blessed to live here, and blessed to be able to contribute in our democracy.

A Confession

This year, I am a NaNoWriMo cheater. I’m using my existing 11,672 words and giving myself a head-start. So when I win, you all can claim I didn’t really win, and that will be fine. Because I’m pretty sure it’s going to be impossible for me to win this year, at least within the rules.

So my goals for NaNoWriMo are:
1. Write the next 38,328 words of this novel.
2. Get the stinking thing done, OMG, because I’ve been trying to finish it since February.

And, yeah, I’ve written 50,000 words in a month before (twice!), but this month I’m starting a new job in the middle of the month, and that tends to sap my creative juice. All that brain power gets used just trying not to completely screw something up all day at work.

So there’s my lame confession. The flogging may now begin.

Grown-Up Halloween

On Twitter, I’d taken an informal poll on my costume options for grown up Halloween at our friends’ house Saturday night: cowboy or Sarah Palin. At first, I was leaning toward cowboy, because I got these awesome cowboy boots in Jackson. But I couldn’t resist the draw of an easy shot, so Sarah Palin it was.

Those buttons on my jacket are actually 2 “I Voted Early” buttons. Someone at the party asked me if I voted early and I said, “You betcha. Twice!” And then I winked. They stared blankly.
What you can’t see in the picture is the pricetag hanging off my jacket sleeve that says “$150,000.00″ on it. Yeah, not many people got that either, but I thought it was funny. Apparently Robbie and I watch way too much CNN or something.
So what were you for Halloween? Did you have a grown-up Halloween of your own?
